A Video Editor for Therapists Where Sessions Never Leave Your Device

Recordings made for clinical supervision, training, or teletherapy review are among the most sensitive video that exists. Plumely edits and captions them entirely in your browser — there is no upload, so a client's session stays on the machine you recorded or reviewed it on.

Everything runs on your device. Your videos are never uploaded — there's no server to upload to.

Best in Chrome & Edge on desktop.

Client recordings stay local

Plumely processes video with your browser's own engine and on-device WebAssembly. There is no upload endpoint, so a counseling, supervision, or intake recording is never sent to — or stored on — a third-party server. The clearest way to confirm this is to watch your browser's network tab while you edit: your recording isn't going anywhere.

Consent covers the recording, not another vendor

When your informed-consent process already covers recording a session, editing it in Plumely doesn't introduce a new party for the client to consent to, because no one else receives the file. You aren't adding a cloud sub-processor to your notice of privacy practices just to trim a clip for supervision.

Prepare a clip for supervision or consultation

  • Trim a long session down to the few minutes you want to bring to supervision
  • Add word-level captions for a transcript, for review, or for accessibility
  • Reduce background noise and level loudness so a quiet room is intelligible
  • Reframe to keep the focus on one speaker when reviewing an interaction

De-identify before you share

If a clip will be shown outside the room it was recorded in, you can cover or blur a face, mute a spoken name or identifying detail, and cut segments that aren't relevant to the clinical point. Always play back the final export before sharing it, and keep de-identification consistent with your own practice's and your licensing board's requirements.

Clean exports for training and case presentation

Export a clean MP4 with no watermark — suitable for peer consultation, case presentation, and training material. There's no paywall to remove branding, because there is no branding.

Edit on a device that's never online

Installed as an app, Plumely works with no connection at all. You can prepare a recording on a machine that stays offline, then move only the finished, de-identified export if and when you need to.

FAQ

Are session recordings uploaded?+

No. Editing and export run in your browser on your device — there is no server to upload to. Your network tab will show 0 bytes uploaded.

Is this HIPAA compliant?+

We don't offer a BAA, because Plumely never receives your data — there is no transmission to a covered service, which removes us as a processor entirely. That said, HIPAA compliance is about your whole workflow (how the file is stored on your device, who can access it, how it's transported), so confirm the end-to-end process against your practice's policy.

Can I fully de-identify a client?+

You can blur faces, mute names, and cut identifying segments, then verify the result in the exported file. Whether that meets a given de-identification standard is a clinical and legal judgment you should make against your board's and payer's requirements.

Does anything I do get used to train AI?+

No. Because your recordings never leave your device, there is nothing for us to collect, and nothing is used for training.

Is there a watermark?+

No — exports are clean MP4 with no branding.

Do I need to sign up?+

No account is required to edit or export.
