Privileged footage stays on your device
Most online editors upload your video to their servers to process it, which puts privileged or evidentiary material on infrastructure you don't control. Plumely uses your browser's own decoding and encoding engine — there is no upload endpoint, so deposition and evidence video never leaves your machine. If you open your browser's network tab while you work, you'll see zero bytes of your file going out.
No third-party processor to vet
Because nothing is uploaded, there's no cloud sub-processor to add to your firm's vendor review, no data-processing agreement to negotiate, and no external retention policy to audit. That also means there's no editing vendor in the chain that could later be subpoenaed to produce the file — it exists only where you opened it.
Prepare deposition designations for trial
Cut a multi-hour deposition down to the designated testimony, split it into the clips you'll actually play, and burn in word-level captions so the record reads clearly on the courtroom screen. Level the loudness so a soft-spoken witness is audible from the back of the room, and reframe a wide conference-room shot to keep the deponent in frame.
Redact faces, plates and audio

A note on redaction you should not skip
Always review the exported file before you disclose it. Redaction applied to the video should be verified frame-by-frame in the final export, and remember that a burned-in blur hides pixels but does not alter the original source file — keep your unedited original preserved separately for authentication and chain-of-custody purposes.

Does redaction permanently remove the information?+
A blur or cover you burn into the export hides that region in the exported file. Always verify the final export before disclosure, and keep your original unedited file preserved separately, since the export is a new derivative — not a modification of the source.
Can it authenticate evidence or add a certified timestamp?+
No. Plumely is an editor, not evidence-management or authentication software. Preserve originals and handle authentication and chain of custody through your usual process.
